Pink continues to fill rec courts and so it is not surprising that Nike pretty regularly offers up a women’s tennis collection comprised of the color.
This group combines the athletic Set Point Tennis Tank, in spark and white, $50 part of the Nike Spark Group. There is a subtle tonal hexagonal floral graphic across the front that I really like.
Built in bra and straight over adjustable single straps (it does not have the double straps pictured here). The gradiated color change is effective in connoting movement. The shirt also comes in a short-sleeved scoop neck style.
The skort is the Nike Spark Set Point Skort, pink compression shorts underneath, drop waist and trimmed crinoline flounce at the bottom, $55. It reminds me of a Betsey Johnson skirt.
Ranked WTA #39 in the world, Zhang (of China) makes pink look both stylish and strong. The tee says it all.
Find it at Nike, Tennis-Warehouse and tennis retailers nationwide.

We didn’t see Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa long at the WTA Dubai Duty Free. She faced Jelena Jankovic first round and lost BUT I loved her look, something kinda Katherine Hepburn about the ensemble.
Pictured left, Scheepers wears separates from K-Swiss’ new Spring Tennis Group. The top is a spliced shell tank, a popular style among women who eschew body cling, $30, bright white with shimmery champagne beige (almost gold) accents. The skort is a flattering, updated version of the traditional pleated tennis skirt in the same glowing champagne beige, simple, classy and not hip magnifying at all. The black accent is a thin grosgrain ribbon, $47. All performance, UV protective and breathable.
Really pretty in such an understated way.
Find it at K-Swiss.com, Tennis-Warehouse and tennis retailers worldwide.

You saw this tennis outfit on Francesca Schiavone and Ekaterina Makarova at the Australian Open. The white tee and skirt are from Lotto’s new Spring Summer 2011 range, the performance oriented Missy Line. Both wore Lotto’s new Raptor Ultra II shoes as well.
White is obviously a smart color choice for Australia’s summer sun and it actually stood out amidst all of the brights on court down under. Pretty and clean looking, traditional with a twist. The inset ruching down the front and feminine cap sleeves with hint of puff picks up the skirt’s hem detail. A fun take on basic white.
Lotto’s womens Missy Line will also be available in a peachy looking Irid Cocktail. You will see it at Roland Garros.
Find a retailer at Lotto. Lotto apparel is not currently available in the USA. Too bad because I really like their mens Bat line this season.

It’s Fila’s 100th anniversary and in celebration they are creating a series of styles that commemorate Fila tennis champions. First in the line-up, Kim Clijsters who will wear the kelly green and navy Evonne Goolagong inspired look pictured here at this year’s Australian Open.
Fila’s design team sought inspiration from the brand’s archives of styles worn by the winning Australian during her 14 Grand Slam title reign in the 1970s and early 80s (she won Oz four times).
Click on the images for detail.
The new line combines Fila’s signature Italian styling with performance fabrications offering comfort, ventilation and moisture wicking in a tank, cap sleeve top, skort and jacket.
“We are thrilled that Evonne will serve as a brand ambassador for Fila as we honor her tennis legacy during our 100th anniversary year,” said Gene Yoon, Chairman of Fila. “It was only fitting that Kim Clijsters wear this collection since she is the only woman after Goolagong-Cawley to win a Grand Slam as a mother. Kim and Evonne are inspirations to mothers and tennis fans around the world with their grace, athleticism and drive…”
A special F-box 100 year anniversary gold heat seal logo decorates the inside of each garment. Each piece in the line is distinctly vintage in design. The classic skort, for example, is a stretch woven cotton looking skirt with striped elastic waistband and functional front pockets (very unusual these days), contrast piping at pockets and a knit under shortie. I had a chance to check out and try on this outfit. It’s really comfortable and modern in function. The nod to retro is just that, a nod. Really nice all performance stuff.
Balancing the line for all conditions is the Evonne Jacket in French Terry which incorporates rib knit on the collar, cuff and bottom. Cute.
Available at Fila, Tennis-Warehouse and tennis retailers worldwide.
For a little history lesson on Evonne visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Ana Ivanovic’s dress for the Australian Open is from the adidas adiZero spring range. Pretty ehh? It will be available as pictured here, in collegiate (royal) purple and intense green with a web-like design of pearl dots on lighter purple inset at the bodice. This detailing adds a bit of feminine magic to a very athletic, modern dress.
Features include a matching bra top and shorties, zip front that ends below the chest, a low waist that elongates the body and a double layered skirt. The fabric breathes and moves and the cut gives good coverage, although the skirt is short. This is the first time I have ever seen bra/shorties sold as part of a tennis dress (not a la carte extra). Smart and a good deal at $70 USD.
I like this tennis dress; it fits Australia and Ana’s renewed vigor. Her most recent pink dress had more of a gown look to it. This one looks stronger. Channel it girl.
Ana’s tennis shoes will be the adiZero Feather, light and stable in design, in white with collegiate purple, $110.
Find it all soon at Shop adidas , Tennis-Warehouse and other tennis retailers worldwide.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands, always a head-turner with her tennis fashions, pulled together a pretty fresh looking number at Hopman Cup recently. She’s in Perth representing the USA with John Isner. Her look is all Under Armour, minus the socks which are doubled up thin soccer socks (not UA). This outfit is one of my Bethanie favs so far.
The top is a version of the UA women’s slice tank and the shorts are similar to the slice pleated skirt. The exact pieces she has on are not available at the moment.
The surprise (to me at least) is the basketball shoes.
Mattek-Sands is wearing a version of Under Armour’s mens micro G blur basketball shoes in white and black (red laces included). Basketball shoes for tennis, hmmm; why not I guess, especially hard court?
I like this look a lot, with headband, minus socks.
The Hopman Cup runs through January 8, 2011. Learn more about it HERE.
Find the like-looks at UnderArmour.com.

Fernando Verdasco will take a page from Nadal’s technicolor style book at this year’s Australian Open adding a blast of oh-so-trendy pink to his on-courtdrobe.* Verdasco’s look is from adidas’ adizero collection which blends the performance and comfort adidas fans crave.
The adizero line is made of super lightweight fabric designed to keep you from overheating (a must in the scorching Australian heat). A smooth waistband on the shorts provides better fit and feel. I never thought about it myself but a flat band would of course be more comfortable than a cinched drawstring — unless of course you are working a bit of a joe.
Verdasco, will play in this fresh pink crew with a white based version as an alternative. The design is a sublimated off center brushstroke style x accented with intense green, yellow and black. I’m thinking the pink is going to be a young-guns look only; fits with Nando’s fresh mohawk (not pictured) for sure. The polo style in the group offered in green, black and white is a good alternative for terminally pinkophobic men. Jo Wilfried Tsonga will wear the green polo version (not saying he doesn’t like pink).
Verdasco’s tennis shoes are the feather pink and black adizero Feather, lightweight, all-court in an athletic frame that offers good stability as well as heel cushioning. “I need a shoe that can get me through matches that can sometimes last up to four hours,” said Verdasco. “The longer I’m on court the lighter I need my shoe to be so I don’t get tired out…[T]he adizero Feather is the perfect solution.”
Find it all soon at Shop adidas , Tennis-Warehouse and tennis retailers worldwide.
